HISTORY OF TIMBERFRAME
As a method of building construction in wood, timber framing has been practiced for centuries everywhere in the northern hemisphere. Timber framing in North America receded in the latter part of the 19th century, and mixed framing methods evolved to satisfy the economic and stylistic requirements of changing times. In the 1970’s a resurgence of interest in exposed structure, under the considerable influence of back-to-the-land movement, led to the modern timber frame revival.
